Cap Construction
A lace front is a wig feature designed to resemble a natural hairline. A lace front includes individually attached hairs that generally extends only across the forehead, although some styles have an extended temple-to-temple lace front. These individually attached hairs give the effect that the hair is growing directly out of the scalp. While a lace front only extends across the forehead and an inch or two behind the hairline, a monofilament feature can give the same look along the hair part.
A wig with a monofilament feature has a thin layer of sheer mesh at either the part, crown, or top. Similar to a lace front, a monofilament feature adds to the natural look of a wig. Monofilament imitates a natural hair part, top, or crown and gives the appearance of hair growing directly from the scalp.
